Homes going into some stage of foreclosure in Danville and Pittsylvania County are up from a year ago, according to the latest data from RealtyTrac.

May filings were the second-highest number recorded, trailing April’s record. At 1 p.m. on a hot afternoon last week, an auctioneer opened a foreclosure sale outside the Newport News Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
Mass. Foreclosure Petitions In March Jump To Highest Level Since Last July
Foreclosure activity in Massachusetts increased significantly during the month of March, according to the latest report by The Warren Group, publisher of Banker & Tradesman. The number of foreclosures initiated by lenders jumped 22 percent from the prior month and 8 percent from a year earlier.
